What is the right amount to tip movers?
I am going to move in a week or so. Moving around 1 hour away (30 miles). Just wanted to factor this in my budget in case its a large amount.
Honestly, I just ask upfront when I ask for the quote. I am ok with the standard services' tip but I just dont want to be surprised, or have them leave feeling disappointed. I just ask the owner (or whoever it is giving me the quote) to let me know their version of reasonable tipping policy.
yes but the business owner does not have anything to do with tips. why involve him in the tips
Whats wrong with just 20%?
So if you have a $2000 bill - are you really going to tip $400? That is crazy high
For each day of work - $100-$150 per person in the crew. For very short jobs - $50 is still the minimum
I just give 20 a person. Maybe 20 more if there are a lot of stairs involved to the people who actually move the stuff up the stairs - not the entire crew. Not sure why this also needs to be 20%.
Absolutely - I dont see how the tip should be more than may be 10-15 per hour of work. If its a short job - you get around 30-40. People seem to forget but you please remember - this is a "tip" - not the total pay.
Depends on who is paying. If your company is paying - just make expense it and splurge. If you are paying - then 20-30 is fine for a short job, 50 for a long one.
Sounds like you have a fairly short job - not worth a very big discussion. Pay whatever and move on.
